Does hypnotherapy work?

April 2nd, 2019

We get asked this question often – and what people are really asking is: “Is hypnotherapy going to work for me?”  In our experience, our clients are most often successful in overcoming their problems and achieving their goals – provided that they make a definite decision to do so, take some conscious actions to make changes, and follow the Hypnotherapeutic Treatment Plans we suggest.  Therefore, to answer the question, “Yes, hypnotherapy has worked for others – there is every possibility it is going to work for you too”.  Don’t wait any longer to find out – contact us to find out how hypnotherapy could work for you.

Winter Blues?

June 7th, 2018

It is mid-way through the year and cold outside.  Some people believe that they are more likely to feel depressed during the Winter months – unfortunately, for many people, they struggle with keeping good mental health whatever time of year it is.  Just know that, however long this has been a problem for you, this does not have to continue to be your reality.  Help is available if you live locally in Tauranga (or if you live elsewhere you can follow our Society link on our Home page to find someone near you) for you to get the tools and techniques necessary to change your life for the better.  Whatever time of year it is, there really is no better time than right now.  We want to assist you to overcome your challenges and achieve your goals – we care, we are here to help.

The simple answer is that when we try and make changes with our conscious mind (eg “This year, I am going to stop smoking/lose weight/drink less/exercise more/stop fighting with my partner”), we are up against the programming in our subconscious mind which is where all our experiences, knowledge and memories are.  Our subconscious mind is very powerful as it remembers all the times when we have smoked a cigarette, ate cakes, drank wine, or fought with our partner – and these memories or experiences of these things has formed into a habit and has become our default setting.  So in times of stress, we are more likely to go back to these types of behaviours.

Behaviour change requires BOTH our two minds working together towards a common goal.  We, at Imagine Hypnotherapy, are here to help you achieve this process.  It is now February – so if you are not reaching your New Year goals, find out how.

For people who are struggling with depression, it often becomes difficult to know what is ‘normal’.  When we are working with people who have been dealing with depression for a long time, they can suddenly start to feel ‘good’ again and even start to experience longer moments of feeling happy.  Then they wake up one morning and feel ‘down’ again.  And this can be alarming because they can feel like all their progress has come undone and they are back to where they were.  What helps is re-learning what is ‘normal’ for us as human beings (which someone who has been depressed for a long time has forgotten).  Even the most happiest among us are going to have moments, hours, or even days, or longer periods of time when life can seem difficult to cope with, overwhelming, and we can feel negative about that.

Because life is a series of moments experienced, influenced by many external factors as well as internal ones, it is normal to have periods of time when we feel ‘up’, feel ‘good’ and ‘happy’, but this means that the reverse is also going to be true – life being the roller coaster that it is (of experiences as well as emotions) we are going to have times when we feel ‘down, feel ‘bad’ and ‘unhappy’.

We help our clients to manage the ups and downs of what is normal life, by teaching them tools that can help them to ride out those unhappy ‘down’ times.  When we talk with our clients about this, we say that we cannot promise that they are never going to feel down again (and this is not realistic anyway), however, what we can work on is being ‘ok’ most of the time, regardless of those external and internal influences.  Being ok most of the time is a realistic endeavour which actually really helps those that have not felt even ‘just ok’ for a very long time, to accept the ups and downs of life.

Time to Review Your Year

May 31st, 2016

How is your year going so far?

Here are some things to think about:-

  • Are you succeeding, with the goals and plans that you had in mind, at the beginning of the year?
  • Are you thinking, feeling and acting, the way that you would like to be?
  • Is there anything that you would like to change, improve, enhance?
  • Is there anything that is holding you back from living the life that you want, and that you deserve?
  • Are there areas of your life that you would like to achieve greater and more effective performance in?Many people struggle to implement change, and maintain this, and believe that this is to do with lack of motivation / commitment / willpower. The real reason that many people fail to implement real long lasting change, is that they are only using one mind, the conscious mind. The subconscious mind is the most powerful of the two minds, and when it is utilised, to match conscious mind desires, wishes and decisions, you then have the two minds working together, for the same goal. A very key ingredient in success! At Imagine Hypnotherapy, we teach our clients how to utilise the power of their subconscious mind, with easy to learn and enjoyable techniques. We work with our clients, to assist them to achieve their goals. How do you see and envisage the rest of your year going? If there are things you would like to do differently, improve, change, then Imagine Hypnotherapy, as you imagine the rest of your year progressing!

If we never had any stress at all in our lives, we would never get anything done!  However, if we never release our day to day stress, then we move into the “Tension Zone”, and it is in the Tension Zone that problems emerge.  When in the Tension Zone difficulties in life occur, including such things as lack of concentration and focus, difficulties with sleeping, old habits start to creep back in, a downturn in performance levels, relationship difficulties, and much more!

People do not usually realise they are in the Tension Zone until they experience some or all of these things, and then their enjoyment of life is impaired, they find it more difficult to function, and this in itself causes more “Tension”, it is a cycle!

In our “Stress Buster Session” we teach you a simple process that will enable you to release your day to day stress, keep you out of the Tension Zone, and have you performing better, feeling better, living better!

Kick Start Your 2016!

January 4th, 2016

We would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

The start of a New Year is always a good time to reflect on the year gone by, and to contemplate a new one starting.  Whether you have achieved all that you wanted to achieve in the year that has passed, and if not, then there is an “opportunity” to make the most of the year that is ahead!  Opportunity is a wonderful thing, and a New Year starting is full of opportunity, it is full of promise, for all that can be achieved, it is a matter of taking advantage of this opportunity, and making the most of it!

Often people make “New Year’s Resolutions” and then find that it is not long before it is difficult to put these into action.

Why is this?

Perhaps the New Year’s Resolution was actually just a whim of the moment, or more likely it is because those making these Resolutions, have not had the advantage of working with the one thing that is necessary to see these things through, and that is working with the subconscious mind, the most powerful mind, that drives all behaviour.

Whether it is to stop doing something or to do something more efficiently and more productively, working with the power of the subconscious mind with Hypnotherapy, is the most effective way of changing behaviour.

So when making your plans and setting your goals for how you wish to have your 2016 Year play out for you, Imagine Hypnotherapy, make yourself a priority this year, set your year up in the right way, and contact us to book your Hypnotherapy Appointment to Kick Start your Year with a Hypnotherapy Programme that will assist you to make your New Year’ Resolutions become a reality!
