Can hypnotherapy help me?

You can look at the Hypnotherapy can assist with… page on this website.  If you do not find your particular problem listed then go to the Contact us page to ask us about your specific issue.  Most problems can be helped by hypnosis.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on the individual person and what problem(s) they need help with.  Most people require an average of 4 – 5 hypnotherapy sessions over a similar number of weeks.  However, some will need less and some will need more.  This is something we would discuss during your first session and we would give you an indication then of what is most likely to be needed.

Do I have to come in for a session?

You now have the option of choosing to work with us online.  For more information on the treatment programmes we offer online, or to request a free 15 minute online consultation, or to book by choosing a time and date for your first online meet-up, follow the link to our online service:

(Please note: all online sessions are offered at a reduced price for a limited time).

What happens in the first session?

The first session can typically take around one and a half hours.  In that time we like to build an overall picture of you – by asking questions about your problem, your life situation, your past experiences, and your goals.  We also explain the hypnosis process to you and, also, the importance of relaxation.  It is also most likely that you will get to experience hypnosis in that first session.  At the end of the session, you will be sent a Relaxation Exercise recordign to work with.

How much does each session cost?

We charge $140 per session which includes take-home materials.

Can I book an appointment via email?

Yes, we can arrange your appointment via email.

I have been to a stage hypnotist’s show – I don’t like the idea of someone else having control over me – will you make me cluck like a chicken?

We have no interest in the antics of stage hypnosis and never use the methods of a stage hypnotist.  The methods that we use ensure that hypnosis is used for therapeutic benefit – so it will be used to help you, and never to humiliate you.  Unfortunately, the use of stage hypnotism has created alot of misperceptions in  many people’s minds.  It is unfortunate because it may stop some people from seeking the therapeutic help that hypnosis has to offer.  All the control lies with the person being hypnotised – the person doing the hypnotising is only there as a guide or facilitator.  Remember that the power is within you!

Can hypnosis be harmful?

No.  Hypnosis is a natural state that you experience on a daily basis.  Just before you go to sleep at night, or just before you wake up in the morning, you pass through the hypnotic state.  This is a feeling of being completely relaxed in body and mind – even though you are consciously aware.  Hypnosis can occur at other times too – when daydreaming or when focussing your attention on something fully (sometimes known as ‘being in the flow’).

Why has hypnosis worked for some people to stop smoking but hasn’t worked for others?

Some hypnotherapists and hypnotists claim that using hypnosis to stop smoking will work for everyone.  They are trading on the common (but incorrect) belief that many people have that it is the hypnotiser that is in control and that they (and they alone) can ‘make’ you stop smoking.  Unfortunately, the reality is that there is no quick fix for anything (including stopping smoking) and there is no magic wand to be waved to change things for you – you need to put some work in too!  But, the good news is that, if someone is really committed to stop smoking (or overcome any particular problem that they have) then hypnosis has been found to be a very valuable tool to help you to do just this.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Most people can be hypnotised.  Anyone that is willing and is able to concentrate and relax is hypnotisable.  We have several methods available for us to use when helping someone into hypnosis and we always choose the method that will work best for their individual needs.

Yes – I want an appointment so I can start accessing my power within – how soon can you see me?

Usually, we have a waiting list of up to two weeks.  However, some people require a more urgent appointment and we can make allowances for this also.  If there is some reason that you think this applies to you then let me know about this when you first get in contact with us.
