It is almost a week on from the major earthquake that hit Christchurch.  For those who are not in Christchurch and are only able to view images and receive information through the media and social media of television, newspapers, and internet, it is almost a surreal experience for many.  New Zealanders that are not in Christchurch but are scattered throughout New Zealand and around the world can only imagine what it has been like for this city.  I, along with many others, feel helpless, and, at times even guilty, as we go about our daily business as we always have while other peoples’ lives are in ruins. As we all experience our emotions in the days and weeks ahead, we must allow ourselves to experience each emotion and recognise them for what they are – a normal reaction to what has been a big shock for many.

I would like to send loving thoughts to all those affected by these earthquakes either directly or indirectly, and I hope my hypnotherapy colleagues in Christchurch are faring well and are able to reach out to others who would benefit from their help.

To all those affected:

Serve others when and where you can.  Take comfort however you can.  And remember that your power comes from within.    Kia Kaha.
